The
Town Clerk is a "Commissioner of Oaths" for the purposes of
witnessing certain legal documents, including vehicle transfers, deeds,
insurance claims, and Canada Pension Plan documents. As well, the
Clerk can certify documents such as birth, death and marriage
certificates as 'true' copies. However, the clerk is not a 'Notary
Public' and cannot sign any documents which require the certification of
a Notary Public.
Pursuant
to By-law No. 37-97, there is a $5.00 fee for the first signature and a
$2.00 fee for each additional signature required.
Documents
must be signed in the presence of the Clerk before they can be
certified. |
