Heritage Renfrew which sponsors Renfrew Archives is a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to preserving, enhancing, recognizing and sharing the history and culture of Renfrew and area.

One of our many endeavours is the Renfrew Archives facility, located at the National Archives Building, adjacent to the Renfrew Inn on O'Brien Road.

Although Heritage Renfrew Archives does not conduct research itself, our facilities are open to the public and use of the material and advice about researching is free of charge.

Our facilities are open for research Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  It is recommended that you call one of the directors before your visit to ensure that you find your stay is worthwhile and helpful.

We are officially classes as a library which allows us to order any release or 'holding' available from the National Library or National Archives including any newspaper in the country, past or present.  These can be ordered from our facility in Renfrew for viewing and reference.

Genealogical Web Sites
While the Links below will be of interest to many, the research that the Mormon Church has done during the past few decades is recognized worldwide.

A number of years ago, the ancestorial trace of every person born in the Province of Quebec was completed and their database also includes all genealogical records for a number of countries including England.

The church has just announced completion of a database listing all those who arrived at Ellis Island, New York as immigrants from Europe to the New World.  This database includes the records of 22 million immigrants who arrived at the Port of New York from 1892 to 1924.

To search for your ancestors, go to www.familysearch.org before you go anywhere else!
