teachers and superior programs ensure that Renfrew's school system opens
minds to the world.
With two school
boards, Renfrew has four excellent elementary schools and two high
schools. The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board comprises St.
Thomas the Apostle Catholic School and Our Lady of Fatima and the Renfrew
County District School Board includes Central Public School and Queen
Elizabeth Public School.
The Renfrew
& District Christian School, a private school which teaches grades
Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, was started in 1985 by parents who
wanted to be involved in their children's education and their children
to go to a Christian school.
Saint Joseph's
High School is housed in a brand new building with a state-of-the-art
gymnasium with a unique rubberized floor. The school has 351 students, 22
teachers, a ratio of 3-1 students per computer and a beautiful chapel for
solace.
Renfrew
Collegiate Institute was built in the 1880's and has educated Renfrew
youth since the town was founded. With 670 students and 44 teachers, the
school's strong technical, art and music departments have contributed to
it's success.
For those wishing
to complete high school diplomas, St. Joseph's Alternate School offers all
grade level correspondence courses and the Continuing Education Centre
offers adult basic skills, credit and correspondence courses. Adult night
courses are also offered at Renfrew Collegiate Institute.
