Schools

Well-trained teachers and superior programs ensure that Renfrew's school system opens minds to the world.

With two school boards, Renfrew has four excellent elementary schools and two high schools. The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board comprises St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School and Our Lady of Fatima and the Renfrew County District School Board includes Central Public School and Queen Elizabeth Public School.

The Renfrew & District Christian School, a private school which teaches grades Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, was started in 1985 by parents who wanted to be involved in their children's education and their children to go to a Christian school.

Saint Joseph's High School is housed in a brand new building with a state-of-the-art gymnasium with a unique rubberized floor. The school has 351 students, 22 teachers, a ratio of 3-1 students per computer and a beautiful chapel for solace.

Renfrew Collegiate Institute was built in the 1880's and has educated Renfrew youth since the town was founded. With 670 students and 44 teachers, the school's strong technical, art and music departments have contributed to it's success.

For those wishing to complete high school diplomas, St. Joseph's Alternate School offers all grade level correspondence courses and the Continuing Education Centre offers adult basic skills, credit and correspondence courses. Adult night courses are also offered at Renfrew Collegiate Institute.
