Tape North America
In 1995, Scapa
PLC (UK) purchased Renfrew Tape, a manufacturer of adhesive tapes for
commercial, retail and industrial use. The Industrial Commission was
responsible for arranging Renfrew Tape’s 1992 move into a 100,000 square
foot building vacant since 1990 and this was a factor in the acquisition
of the company which, following a 1998 addition of 35,000 square feet to
the plant, now has a workforce of 259.
Industrial Mall
The Renfrew
Industrial Mall, a 50,000 square foot building acquired by the Commission
for tax arrears, was renovated in 1996 and converted for area industry who
required storage and warehousing space. The Mall currently employs 36
people and is home to half a dozen businesses.
TransWorld
Signs Inc.
In early 1997
the Industrial Commission was successfully negotiated with Trans-Canada
Signs Inc. of Anjou, that their new division, TransWorld Signs Inc., would
be located in Renfrew and would occupy the 85,000 square foot building left
vacant by Stewart Hartshorn, a window blind manufacturer. The company
employs over 70 people and they have just been successful in winning a
major contract from the U.S. Postal Service for signage across the United
States.

Times Fiber
manufactures co-axial cable for the TV. cable industry and for the
automation industry. The existing building of 26,000 square feet was
expanded by 8000 square feet in 1997 and again in 2000, giving the Company
total production space of 105,000 square feet. This long time Renfrew industrial resident
employs over 200 people.
ETM
Industries Inc.
ETM Industries
provide tool and mold making, precision machining, CAD/CAM design and
plastic injection molding services to industry in North America and
abroad. In later 1998, the company expanded their plastic injection
molding operation and shipping and receiving lines into a newly
re-furbished 16,000 square foot vacant building. With almost 40,000 square
feet of total space available, ETM employs 75 skilled people and continues
to expand their business in Canada and the United States.
