Anniversary Celebrations Begin
The Renfrew 150 Committee is in the process of finalizing details of the opening event of the 150th anniversary year.

As well as a raising of the 150 flag at Renfrew Town Hall at noon on Jan 1, there will be a breakfast hosted by the Eastern Ontario Miss Teen Pageant committee. The breakfast will be held near Low Square from 10:30 to 11:30 am to make it easy for those attending to also go to the noon hour flag raising.

That ceremony will include entertainment by many members of an inter-denominational massed choir.

Renfrew Highland Pipes & Drums 9th Annual Robbie Burns Dinner. Saturday January 26, 2008 at Mat-Te-Way Activity Centre. Social Hour is 6:00 - 7:00 p.m and Dinner at 7:00 p.m. Haggis with all the trimmings and Scottish entertainment featuring The Pam Reid Scottish Dancers and The Helferty Family. Tickets are $25.00 per person and available from band members, Home Hardware and Renfrew Legion until January. 21, 2008.

Senior Shuffleboard
Seniors floor shuffleboard in Renfrew is looking for new players The Champlain Seniors (55+) hold floor shuffleboard games every Tuesday at 1 pm at the AFAC Wing at 164 Argyle St. in Renfrew.
New players are welcome to come and learn and have an afternoon of fun and friendship.

Many of Renfrew's shuffleboard players also participate annually in the Renfrew County Seniors Games. The 2007 games will be held in Eganville on June 7th.
Adult High School Credit Program
You may receive up to 26 credits through the Prior Learning Assessment and Review Process for mature students (M-PLAR).  Under M-PLAR mature students may be credited up to 26 credits of the 30 credits required for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.  Other students may qualify for 12 credits under the Mature Student Evaluation process and may choose the M-PLAR process.
Literacy Basic Skills and Employment Training Programs include the following:
~ Computer Training, with the newest software
~ Call Centre Training
~ Retail Sales and Service
~ Upgrading in Math and English Basic Skills
~ Preparation for the M-PLAR process
Classes start February 5, 2007.  As there is continuous intake, register now to ensure a seat!

Deployed Family Members
Deployed family members can drop off packages going to Afghanistan at the Stone Meadows Kitchen Shop during business hours.  Packages must be wrapped and properly labeled with the address, return address and contents clearly marked.  Hours of operation are:  9:30 a.m.  - 6:00 p.m. Mon - Thurs; 9:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Fridays; 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturdays and 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sundays

Stone Meadows Kitchen Shop is located at 350 Raglan Street South.  Members from Petawawa will be picking up packages on Monday mornings.

Air Cadets Registration
Every Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at their quarters located in the RCAFA Wing on Argyle Street, Renfrew.  You must be 12 years of age or older to join.  Cadets is free.  For information call 432-4863.
Card Social
Every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. The Renfrew Public Library Friends of the Library invite you to join them for regular afternoons of fun and fellowship through weekly card socials.  The afternoon bridge and/or euchre card parties will be held at the Recess Cafe at back of the Renfrew Corporate Centre, facing Bonnechere Street.  Admission to the card socials will be $2.  All money raised will be used to enhance programs and services the at Renfrew Public Library.  The organizers are also looking for experienced bridge and euchre players to teach and share their skill with others.  For more information call Blance Dalziel at 433-9631.
Coffee Break
Every Wednesday, 10:00 a.m.  Hebron Christian Reform Church, 431 Albert St. N.  Story hour for 3-5 year olds and nursery for 2 and under.  We will start bible study on Wednesday, January 19.
Diefenbunker Movie Night
New film club at the Diefenbunker Museum.  Each film will be preceded by a brief introduction and discussion.  Light snacks and beverages will be provided.  The club will meet the third Tuesday of every month and is open to the public at a cost of $5 per person, per film.  Reservations are required as space is limited.  Please call 613-839-0007 for reservations or information.
Euchre
Monday afternoons in the Legion Hall at 1:00 p.m. beginning September 13, 2004.  Admission $3.00 per person.  Everyone welcome.

Goshen Flea Market

Jam Session - Douglas Tavern

Ottawa Valley Book Club
The Ottawa Valley Book Club is a new book club that is looking for members from Petawawa to Arnprior. The book club will meet once a month to choose a book and then discuss it thoroughly at its next meeting. The group is also going to tie in volunteering with a literary twist as well as plan events that correlate with the topic of the chosen book. The Ottawa Valley Book Club is a free book club and membership is open to anyone of all ages. The Renfrew and District Food Bank is appealing to the public for donations to replenish dwindling shelves at the local food bank.  Donations of non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Renfrew Fire Hall or cash donations can be sent to Box 896, Renfrew, K7V 4H3.

RAG Art Gallery
The Renfrew Art Guild invites you to the opening of the RAG Art Gallery at the Recess Café, 210 Lochiel Street, Renfrew.
